What are they and what is their prevailing  function?

Vitamins are a vital, powerful, and complex group of compounds that are essential for a multitude of biochemical reactions in the body. They are indispensable for maintaining health and recovering from illness.

Many vitamins cannot be synthesized by the body and need to be obtained through our diet. Further, vitamins are either fat soluble or water soluble.

Fat soluble vitamins are dissolved in oil, require dietary fat in order to be utilized properly, and can be stored in the body’s fatty tissue and in the liver. They include Vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Water soluble vitamins are soluble in water and require it to carry out their functions. They cannot be stored in the body and need daily replacement through our diet.

This category includes C and B-complex vitamins.

It is important to note that all vitamins can be  easily obtained through vegan sources.
